A smooth moving day starts long before your removalists arrive. One of the most overlooked ways to speed up your move and reduce stress is by preparing the access points at both your old and new home. At Super Move, we frequently assist families across Sydney and the Northern Beaches, and proper access preparation always makes a big difference.

Here’s how to prepare access points for a seamless, efficient move.

1. Clear Driveways and Pathways

Ensure there is enough space for the removal truck to park as close to the entry as possible. This reduces time, labor, and the risk of damage.

What to check:

  • Cars moved

  • Bins removed

  • No overhanging branches

  • No construction blocking entry

2. Reserve Parking When Necessary

Inner Sydney suburbs or tight Northern Beaches streets often require pre-arranged parking permits or temporary parking reservations.

If your location might be tricky, speak to your local council at least 48 hours before moving day.

3. Measure Doorways, Stairwells, and Elevator Spaces

Large items such as fridges, beds, and sofas can sometimes be difficult to manoeuvre.

Take measurements of:

  • Main entrance

  • Hallways

  • Staircases

  • Lift dimensions (if applicable)

Provide these details to your removalist team so they can prepare accordingly.

4. Disable Alarms and Provide Access Codes

If your building requires:

  • Fob access

  • Swipe cards

  • Lift locks

  • Intercom entry

Make sure all codes and keys are ready for your movers.

5. Protect Floors and Walls

For premium homes, polished floors, or newly renovated spaces, consider adding temporary protection such as:

  • Floor runners

  • Non-slip mats

At Super Move, we provide these materials upon request.
